What is the problem statement?
The client has complete infrastructure on AWS cloud, but everything was provisioned in silos. As a result, the cloud bill was increasing at an alarming rate and their biggest challenge was to reduce the cost and restrict any extra capital expenditure associated with IT. The client’s core business is unrelated to the cloud, proper provisioning knowledge and best practices were also missing. To add to that having a separate internal team just to manage the cloud bill and provisioning didn’t seem a feasible option. They needed a solution to reduce their infra cost, minimize the operational cost & have optimized AWS billing.
How did CloudEnsure help customers fix this problem?
As identified the first step was to onboard all the accounts onto CloudEnsure and run a Well-architected audit. The well-architected audit on the infrastructure revealed certain unknowns. additional services were being used in pockets across the environment that were not in compliance with organizational policy, were not accounted for, and were the major cause of overall cost. The first recommendation was to minimize the usage of such services on priority. This was immediately actioned and aligned the expense with allocated budgets. Using CloudEnsure, a range of rightsizing opportunities were identified to reduce spend on an immediate basis. To enhance the efficiency, it was also recommended to utilize AWS EC2 Spot Instances on an ongoing basis which could reduce compute costs.

With the solution provided through CloudEnsure, unwanted spends were removed and expense was also controlled. The customer now has the confidence that their environment is fully optimized and has detailed visibility into what services are being consumed & utilized. Ongoing optimization of its AWS environment to eliminate the potential risks and cost waste is getting performed which will ensure there are no additional spends in the longer run.
